 Dr. Alyson Wells is a board certified plastic surgeon and teaching physician with an unwavering record of excellence and expertise throughout undergraduate and medical school, internship, residency and her surgical practice. Her academic achievements and honors from some of the most respected institutions in the country reflect the intelligence, skill, discipline and professionalism that craft her medical practice.
Medical School
A Phi Beta Kappa honoree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, she won an outstanding senior award in her major, chemistry, while attending the university on a full academic scholarship.
Dr. Wells then won admittance to medical school at Washington University in St. Louis – ranked by U.S. News & World Report one of the top five medical schools in the nation, placing its students first in terms of academic quality. She graduated medical school in the top 10% of all medical students nationally and won the prestigious Janet H. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Award honoring top women medical students.
Residency
Her internship and first residency were at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, widely regarded as one of the world's greatest hospitals, topping U.S. News and World Reports' ranking of American hospitals for 17 consecutive years. During her residency she was named Outstanding Chief Resident in the Department of Otolaryngology (ear, nose & throat, head & neck disorders)/Head and Neck Surgery. With a second residency at University of Miami- Jackson Memorial Hospital, Dr. Wells completed her training in plastic surgery.
Practice
After graduation, she earned board certifications from the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board Plastic Surgery. Dr. Wells has researched extensively and published professional papers in her field of studies.
Along with building a thriving surgical practice, Dr. Wells is a respected teaching physician at Johns Hopkins Hospital, one of the nation's oldest teaching hospitals.
Married and the mother of two young sons, Dr. Wells understands the delicate life-balance every woman must create between career and family.
