About Lower Body Lifts

A lower body lift is an effective option for reducing sagging skin (ptosis), wrinkles, and excess fat. If you recently lost a lot of weight, sagging skin can change the way your clothes fit, making it difficult to get dressed in the morning. Feeling uncomfortable in your clothes is a common issue that results from excess skin and fat. If you have sagging skin, you might also experience issues with rashes, skin irritation, or intimacy. A lower body lift will restore your natural contour for your desired look and frequently involves elements of liposuction, a tummy tuck, and a thigh lift. Dr. Wells will work with you to reduce excess fat and help you achieve the body of your dreams.

Benefits of a Lower Body Lift

The benefits of a lower body lift include the following:

  • Removes excess skin
  • Eliminates excess fat
  • Reshapes the thighs
  • Removes stretch marks
  • Tightens abdominal muscles
  • Removes excess fat from the buttocks

Candidates for a Lower Body Lift

If you are considering a lower body lift, you should know that this procedure is both cosmetic and functional. If you have rashes or irritation from wrinkles and sagging skin in the lower body, this procedure will completely makeover your daily routine. There is no need to make physical discomfort your new normal. If you have experienced significant changes to your body due to pregnancy, rapid weight loss, or age, you are likely a great candidate for a lower body lift. We will outline your goals and discuss your expectations during your consultation.

Personal Consultation

During your initial consultation, Dr. Wells will discuss your current lifestyle, medication, and medical history. Since a lower body lift can include the thighs, buttocks, and abdomen, we will discuss the area of your body that you would like to contour. You will need to discuss your lifestyle routines and factors such as whether or not you currently smoke or exercise regularly. If you have recently lost weight, you will need to discuss the effects of the weight loss and areas where you are experiencing sagging skin, wrinkles, or stretch marks. Lower body contour procedures are extremely customizable, so you can rest assured that you can achieve your body goals.

Preparation

After your consultation, our team will provide detailed instructions to help you prepare for your procedure. You may need to adjust the medications you take. You will need to stop smoking for approximately 6 weeks leading up to the procedure and stop taking blood thinners, including any herbal supplements that thin the blood. You may need to lose weight before the procedure to minimize the risk of complications. (1) If you are overweight, a higher BMI can increase the risk of complications during the procedure. If you need to lose weight, we will delay your procedure until you reach a goal weight that is considered safe for the procedure.

Lower Body Lift Procedure

The procedure for a lower body lift varies depending on the area you would like to contour. Lower body lifts are usually performed using general anesthesia for your comfort. If your lower body lift involves a tummy tuck, Dr. Wells will make incisions from hip to hip along the bikini line and around the belly button to remove excess fat and skin. During an abdominal lift, Dr. Wells can readjust the skin of the pubic area (monsplasty), remove love handles, tighten abdominal muscles to reshape the abdomen, and perform liposuction to remove any excess fat beneath the skin. If you plan to contour the buttocks, Dr. Wells will make an incision along the inner thighs and the back (usually along the underwear line). If you plan to contour multiple areas of the body, you might need more than one surgery to accomplish your desired results. (2)

Recovery

After a lower body lift you can enjoy an improved silhouette and a smoother lower body appearance. Recovery time varies depending on your procedure. For the first few weeks of your recovery, you will experience moderate discomfort in the treatment area. You will need to take roughly 2 weeks off of work depending on the type of body lift you receive. It can take 2-3 months to return to more vigorous activities.

Lower Body Lift Results

After your lower body lift, you can enjoy an enhanced contour. You will feel amazing in your body. You will no longer need to worry about excess skin or fat that changes the way you look in your clothes. Any skin irritation or rashes from hanging skin will become a distant memory.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation after weight loss, also known as post-weight loss breast enhancement, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that aims to restore breast volume and shape for individuals who have undergone substantial weight reduction. Weight fluctuations and the natural aging process can cause the breasts to lose fullness, elasticity, and definition. This can lead to sagging, deflated breasts that may negatively impact self-confidence and body image. Breast augmentation after weight loss addresses these concerns by enhancing the size and shape of the breasts with the use of implants or fat transfer.

Breast Lift

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to reshape and contour sagging breasts. Significant weight change can result in breast ptosis (drooping), leading to a loss of firmness, symmetry, and volume in the breasts. Breast lift after weight loss aims to restore the breast’s youthful appearance and enhance breast contouring, rejuvenating both physical appearance and self-confidence.

Mommy Makeover

The mommy makeover is a highly customizable cosmetic surgery procedure that combines various aesthetic enhancements to address the specific needs and concerns of women who have undergone childbirth and are looking to restore their pre-pregnancy bodies. The procedure typically includes a combination of breast augmentation, tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast lift to address changes that occur in the breasts, abdomen, and other areas of the body after pregnancy and breastfeeding.

FAQ

Can I get a thigh lift as part of my lower body lift?

Yes! Also known as thighplasty, this procedure focuses on reducing excess skin and fat from the inner and outer thighs. It can improve the contours and symmetry of the thighs, resulting in a sculpted and proportionate leg appearance.

Is liposuction included in a lower body lift?

Liposuction may be utilized during a lower body lift to address stubborn pockets of fat in specific areas such as the hips, flanks, or thighs. This technique can further enhance the overall body contours by removing localized fat deposits.

Are there non-surgical options for lower body tightening?

Non-surgical options cannot remove excess skin and tissue. While they may offer minimal improvements in mild cases, they generally cannot provide the same comprehensive and long-lasting results as a lower body lift surgery.

Will I have a lot of scarring after a lower body lift?

The scars you have after the procedure will depend on the type of body contour you have. Although scarring is inevitable, your surgeon will work to minimize it as much as possible. We make the incisions along the bikini line, belly button, and inner sections of the thighs to make the scars less noticeable.
