What is Micro Coring?

Ellacor micro coring technology (MCT) is the newest scarless skin removal technique for wrinkle reduction, skin tightening, and extensive skin rejuvenation. Unlike lasers, which rely on thermal energy to transform skin, the MCT-based device uses a modified needle to remove tissue safely and effectively without scarring and without a reliance on heat-based treatment. (1)

The aging process happens slowly over time, beginning with subtle changes in our facial appearance that worsen steadily over time. These are a result of a decline in the quality and quantity of basic skin components like collagen, which only continue to “remap” our faces as time progresses. This includes the appearance of wrinkles and reduced elasticity in skin structure, causing sagging in certain areas. (2) But if you’ve ever wondered if a skin resurfacing treatment that also tightens is out there, ellacor definitely fits the bill!

Valley Plastic Surgery & Medi-Spa provides this unique skin-enhancement procedure to residents of Baltimore and beyond. Under the direction of double board-certified plastic surgeon Alyson Wells, MD, patients can address their skin issue head on with the latest platform sure to change the treatment of facial aging. About ellacor

As the first device of its kind, ellacor provides comprehensive solutions to some of the most common skin complaints, without causing scarring.

What Does ellacor Do? (1)

  • Smooths and tightens skin
  • Reduces the appearance of wrinkles and lines
  • Lessens the appearance of acne scars
  • Increases skin thickness
  • Rejuvenates textured, tired skin
  • Reconstructs skin af scar removal and biopsies

With MCT, patients now have a more versatile skin remodeling treatment to add to their med spa procedure wishlist.

What Makes ellacor Different?

The key to ellacor’s success is its superior skin-tightening ability. Other minimally invasive, nonsurgical treatments include micro-needling, laser therapy, and microdermabrasion treatments. These procedures, while incredibly effective at smoothing and rebalancing textured skin, are usually limited to addressing only mild skin sagging. However, studies show that ellacor is both minimally-invasive and able to address moderate-to-severe skin redundancy. (3)

Micro Coring vs. Microneedling

Although the two skin rejuvenating procedures have some similarities, there are some clear biomechanical differences between ellacor and microneedling. Microneedling uses an array of needles that only push skin aside during a session. Because this treatment modality doesn’t remove any tissue, it’s less likely patients will see significant skin tightening. (4) Additionally, this treatment frequently uses radiofrequency, which releases heat energy to aid skin remodeling.

In contrast, the ellacor handpiece uses hollow needles to excise (remove) material on a micro-scale, with tiny columns just 400 microns (0.4mm/0.015in) in diameter. Because these micro-injuries are so small, scar tissue is unable to form, and patients reap the benefits with smoother, revitalized skin.

Can I Get ellacor Treatment After Fillers?
